An unexpected filtering block may occur when a Classroom Manager class is running when it should not be. This may prevent a student from accessing specific websites or the internet entirely. Claim Student reduces the time required to investigate these issues.
You have several options for resolving student blocks.
Option 1: Ask the teacher to claim the student
Where possible, ask the student’s current teacher to:
Open Classroom Manager and start the class.
Find the Student tile.
If the Student tile shows Claim Student, select View Details in the top banner and note the teacher and class currently managing the student in another class.
Select Claim Student.
This is the fastest method because teachers resolve the block without involving the school IT Support team.
Option 2: Use a temporary class for troubleshooting
If the teacher is unavailable, school IT Support can quickly identify and override a Classroom Manager class block.
-
Create a temporary local Teaching Mode class.
Note
Ensure you don’t set Rules, Focus, or Pause Internet for the class.
Add the affected student to the class.
Select an appropriate end time, then start the class.
If the Student tile shows Claim Student, select View Details in the top banner and note the teacher and class currently managing the student in another class.
Select Claim Student.
This will immediately remove all restrictions being applied to the student from the other class.
