You can use Pause Internet to temporarily stop one or more students from accessing the internet during a class. Pausing internet access helps ensure students stay on task when they don’t need to use their device and also prevents students from browsing distracting content.
Before you begin
- You must have access to Pause Internet in Classwize.
What happens during a Pause?
When you pause Internet access, the Internet Paused banner will appear in the student tile, and the student will see a Block page when they try to browse. For students using a Chromebook or a Windows device in Companion mode, Pause Internet will hide existing tabs and restore them when you end the pause. For students using Windows without Companion mode or macOS devices, Pause Internet will not hide existing tabs or webpages, however, it will block students from browsing them.
Pause a student
In an active Classwize classroom, select the Pause icon on a student tile to pause the internet for that student.

Note
Pause Internet overrides Focus for a student’s internet access. Paused students are refocused when unpaused.
End Pause for a student
Select the Pause icon to resume internet access. The Internet Paused banner will disappear, and the student can use the internet again.
