When you and another teacher try to control the same class, your Classwize screens don’t stay in sync. This article explains two methods to manage co-teaching effectively.
What happens when two teachers use the same class
When two teachers sign in to the same Classwize class at the same time, Classwize doesn’t update both screens together. For example:
- If you pause a student, your co-teacher doesn’t see the pause.
- If your co-teacher starts a Focus session, you won’t see the change.
- Both of you may give conflicting instructions, which quickly causes confusion.
How to manage co-teaching
You can avoid confusion by choosing one of the following approaches.
Option 1: Let one teacher control Classwize
- Determine which teacher will be in charge of Classwize during the lesson.
- Ask the co-teacher to sign in only to view the class but not take action.
- Coordinate your actions outside Classwize (for example, by talking or messaging).
Option 2: Create a local class for the co-teacher
If you and your co-teacher both need to manage students at the same time, use separate classes.
- Create a local class in Classwize.
- Add the students you need to supervise.
- Remove those students from the shared class while you supervise them.
- Add them back to the shared class after the session if required.
