This article explains how to fix the issue of the Close Tab option not appearing, or not working when you try to close a student’s browser tab in Classwize.
The feature is turned off in school settings
Your school’s IT Support may not have turned on the Close Tab feature. It is an optional setting that must be turned on in school settings.
If you don’t see the Close Tab option or if it doesn’t work, contact your school’s IT Support team to confirm whether the feature has been turned on.
Linewize Connect is not installed or supported
The Close Tab feature requires the Linewize Connect extension to be installed and supported on the student’s device or browser.
- Chromebooks: If the feature is turned on, you can close tabs from the Student Tile, List View, and Live View.
- Windows devices: Close Tab works in Edge and Chrome when running in Companion mode. In Companion mode, you can close tabs from the Student Tile and List View, but not from Live View.
Check that the student’s device has the Linewize Connect extension installed and that the device or browser supports this feature. If the extension is missing or unsupported, contact your school’s IT Support.
