You can create a Focus or use an existing Focus Plan to ensure your students stay on task during class. You can set a Focus for your whole class from Class Tools, or for selected students from the floating toolbar. You can edit or end the Focus from your Classroom toolbar, or use the Focus button on a student tile to add that student to an active Focus or end their Focus.
Before you begin
You must have access to Focus in Classwize.
Note
Pause Internet overrides Focus for a student’s internet access. Paused students are refocused when unpaused.
Set a Focus from Class Tools
On the Classwize Dashboard, select the class for which you want to set the Focus Plan.
On the Classroom toolbar, select Class Tools, then Focus and the Focus Library panel will open.
Select Create Focus.
-
(Optional) Select Save this focus to my library, then enter a Name to create a Focus Plan. Focus plans are saved in your Focus Library and can be set for multiple classes.
Important
If you do not save the Focus to your library, the Focus settings will disappear if you end the Focus in your class.
-
In the Resources field, enter a resource you want your students to focus on.
Tip
You can enter as many resources as you need for your class.
Select Students, then select All students or choose the students you want the Focus to apply to.
Select Preset Focus (Class not active) or Apply Focus (Class is active).
Set a Focus for selected students
Use the floating toolbar to set a Focus for a group of students, such as one learning group.
-
In your class, select the student tiles:
Checkbox: select the checkbox on each student tile.
Click and drag: click and drag across the student tiles you want.
In the floating toolbar, select Focus. The Focus Library panel will open.
Select Create Focus, then complete steps 4 and 5 in Set a Focus from Class Tools.
Select Apply Focus.
Tip
Place each group's tiles together using a custom view, so you can select the whole group in one drag.
