If you create a rule during a lesson and want to use it again, add it to a rule list. The rule is saved in your Rules Library, so you don't need to recreate it for your next class.
Before you begin
This article is for teachers who use Classroom Manager. Before you add a rule to a list, make sure that:
The list is active in the class. Only active lists appear in the Add to list menu. For steps, see Apply a rule list to a class.
The list has room for the rule. Each list can hold up to 200 rules.
Add a class rule to a rule list
To add a class rule to a list:
In the class toolbar, select Rules.
In the Active Rules tab, find the rule in the Class-specific rules section.
Next to the rule, select Add to a list (folder icon). The Add to list menu appears.
Select the list you want to add the rule to.
The rule moves from the Class-specific rules section into the list, and the list's rule count goes up by one.
What happens when you add a rule to a list
Important
A rule you add to a list applies to every class where that list is active, not just this class.
When you add a class rule to a list:
The list is updated everywhere: The rule is saved to the list in your Rules Library, and every class using the list gets the rule the next time it's opened.
Student rules become whole class rules: Lists only hold rules for the whole class. If the rule applies to one student, Classroom Manager changes it to a whole class rule and lets you know before it's added.
Rules are checked first: If the list already has the same rule, it isn't added again. If the rule conflicts with an app another rule depends on, it isn't added. For example, IXL needs ABCya, so you can't block one while allowing the other.
To change access in this class only, keep the rule as a class-specific rule instead.
