You can temporarily claim students in Classwize to manage their behavior or for administrative interventions without permanently interrupting another teacher’s class settings.
Note
You can use Monitor-Only classes for supervision if you don’t need to use Classwize features to restrict a student’s internet access. This allows support staff to supervise screens without interfering with classroom teaching sessions.
Before you begin
You must have access to:
- Create a Teaching Mode class.
- Modify Students.
Claim students for Intervention
If administrative or behavior management staff need temporary control of a student's device:
- Open the class containing the student.
- Select the Student tile.
- Select Claim Student.
- Apply the required intervention.
- When complete, select Modify Students.
- Remove the student from the temporary class.
Once the student is removed, control returns to the previous teacher.
Tip
If your school uses Classwize classes primarily to apply additional filtering restrictions, consider moving these restrictions into Linewize Filter policies instead. This provides a more consistent long-term approach and avoids management conflicts between instructional and support classes.
