Check a student's tabs during class

This article is for Teachers.

Important

If you see the message “Screenshots and Live view disabled for this site”, the website is restricted from screen view.

If a student uses a Chromebook or Windows device, you can check the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge tabs that the student has open and close the tab if they are inappropriate. You can use Live View to follow the tab that the student is currently using, or look at their background or inactive tabs.

Tip

If you’re unsure of a website that a student has opened, you can open the website in your browser to check it discreetly.

Active Tab

The Active Tab is the browser tab that the student currently has open. If the student is switching between different tabs, you can select Follow active tab to show the Active Tab the student is on.

Background or Inactive tab

Background or Inactive tabs are browser tabs that are open but not being looked at. Select any tab without the Active Tab indicator to see the background tab. The Active Tab indicator will remain on the tab the student is viewing and Follow active tab will automatically turn off.
