Students can organise their tabs into Tab groups. However, when Tab Limit is active, tabs in these groups will close automatically to enforce the limit. If all tabs in a group are closed, the group disappears, and students have to recreate it.
This article explains how you can help students keep their tab groups during lessons.
How Tab Limit affects student tab groups
- Automatic tab closing: If a student reaches the Tab Limit and a new tab must open (for example, when a resource is launched), Classwize will automatically close an existing tab.
- Impact on groups: If all tabs in a tab group are closed, the group disappears.
Use Close group to keep student tab groups
To prevent students from losing tab groups during class:
- Ask students to right-click the tab group’s name or the coloured circle in Chrome or Edge.
- Select Close group or Close grouped tabs.
Closing the group hides it without deleting it, keeping it available to reopen later. This ensures Tab Limit doesn’t remove their organised groups.
