Stop students from using Generative AI Tools during class

This article is for Teachers.

Ensuring academic integrity during your classes is crucial. Generative AI tools can lead to academic dishonesty if students access them during class. This article provides a step-by-step approach to effectively using Classwize Rules to block these tools and understanding how to manage exceptions when necessary.

Many schools have implemented policies to block access to AI tools to maintain academic integrity. Before creating new rules, it’s important to check if such restrictions are already in place:

  1. Check for existing restrictions
Look for the Locked rule error to determine if the AI Tools category is already locked.

  2. Review Blocked or Allowed content
Refer to types of content you can block or allow to understand the current settings
